The economical beaches of Mykonos don’t require you dish out a lot of money to enjoy what the island has to offer.
Beautiful Economical Beaches of Mykonos
It’s true. Mykonos is the kind of island where you can rent a sun lounger and umbrella for 100 euro a day or a special beach cabana for 1,000 a day – even more at some luxury beachside properties. It’s no secret that Mykonos is an island destination where international high rollers love to spend money. However, high rollers aren’t the only visitors.
One of Mykonos’ best assets are its beaches. In fact, it has some of the most beautiful beaches in Greece. While some organized beaches may cost a bundle to enjoy a prime view, some don’t cost much at all or at least are very reasonable for the average traveler.
Here’s our rundown of the economical beaches of Mykonos.
Organized and Economical Beaches of Mykonos
Agrari
Agrari is one of our favorite sandy beaches on the island. It’s located next to the more popular Elia beach. It’s about 10 kilometers from Mykonos Town and it can be reached by a local bus. Some taxi boats also stop here. It is one of the economical beaches of Mykonos because the beachside businesses do not charge terribly high prices for their beach lounger and umbrella use. Agrari also manages to maintain a laid back and unpretentious vibe.
Ornos
Located on the southwest coast and two kilometers from Mykonos Town, Ornos is another one of the choice economical beaches of Mykonos. It has been developed over the past years to be a bustling – but charming – beachside community with many shops, restaurants and taverns. The great thing is the sunbeds and umbrellas here are not so expensive. In fact, it is considered a perfect family beach. There’s a friendly vibe here, and you can dine well at some of the simpler eateries within reach. There is regular bus service to and from the beach from Mykonos Town and you can also catch taxi boats to other beaches.
Platis Gialos
The calm atmosphere at Platis Gialos beach is welcoming and economical. There are hotels, shops and restaurants on this part of the island. You can opt for sun beds at a decent price and grab a meal too without breaking the bank. From this beach, there are taxi boats that stop at other beaches on the southern coast of the island.
Economical Option: Non-Organized Beaches
The most economical beaches of Mykonos are the ones that are not organized at all. That means there aren’t any beach side business renting lounge chairs or selling products and food. You simply have to plan on bringing your own supplies and maybe your own snacks. These beaches are a great option for a fun or romantic picnic. Head to Megali Ammos (five-minute walk from our villa), Fokos, Bay of Corfu or Ftelia beaches for the all-natural beach experience on Mykonos.
That sums up the economical beaches of Mykonos that we love. You don’t have to be a high roller to enjoy amazing beaches here. Have you ever been to a Greek beach?
